Paul Stewart & Sarah Perks
Forms of Circulation is a collaborative filmmaking and curatorial practice by Paul Stewart and Sarah Perks, based in the North East of England. Working across moving image, participatory workshops and site-responsive research, their projects explore how knowledge, environments and communities intersect through film and collective creative processes.
Their work moves fluidly between gallery, festival and socially engaged contexts. Forms of Circulation #1, a 16mm collaboration with research laboratories and nature reserves in the Tees Estuary, received critical acclaim and was selected for international festivals including the BFI London Film Festival (2024). Their films, including Until the End of the World (2024), have screened in national galleries and are held in the collection of MIMA (Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art).
Alongside festival and gallery exhibition, Forms of Circulation develops commissions and collaborative projects with cultural and environmental organisations, including Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, Natural England, Handpicked Productions, and the National Trust. They were also selected artists for the Brent Biennial 2025.
Through film production, residencies and collaborative workshops, Forms of Circulation create projects that connect cinematic practice with place-based research and public participation, positioning moving image as both an artistic medium and a shared space for reflection, storytelling and exchange.
